Terms of Service

Forecasts aren't guarantees

Never rely on the app alone for safety decisions. Official warning services always come first.

Your photos stay yours

You keep the copyright. You give us permission to show your photo in the app and on our own channels.

🛡️

Moderation is real

Reports and photos are reviewed. Abuse gets removed and the device can be blocked permanently.

Leaving is easy

No account to close. Stop using the app, or e-mail your device ID to have your community content deleted.

1.Accepting these terms

In short: using the app means you accept these rules. If you don't, please don't use it.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Hyperlocal Weather ("we", "us") covering the Hyperlocal Weather mobile applications (iOS, Android, Apple Watch, Wear OS) and the website hyperlocalweather.app (together, the "Service"). By installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and why. It is part of this agreement — please read it too. Where the two documents describe the same thing, they are meant to agree; if you spot a contradiction, tell us and we will fix it.

2.What the service is

In short: a weather app with an optional community map. No account needed.

Hyperlocal Weather shows forecasts, radar and weather conditions for your location and for places you look up. It also has an optional Community tab where users share live observations — rain, hail, flood, a notable sky — pinned to a shared map, optionally with a photo.

Some reports on the map are generated by us automatically from weather-data sources rather than submitted by a user, so that the map is still useful in areas with few contributors.

The Service works without an account. Instead, your device is given a randomly generated identifier that links your community activity (see the Privacy Policy, Section 4). We may add, change or withdraw features over time.

3.Forecast accuracy & safety

In short: weather data is a prediction, not a promise. Never bet your safety on it.

Forecasts, radar imagery, rainfall estimates, lightning data and alerts are provided for general information only. They come from third-party providers and from other users, and they can be delayed, incomplete or simply wrong.

Do not use the Service as your only source for safety-critical decisions. For severe weather — storms, floods, lightning, hurricanes, extreme heat or cold — always follow your national meteorological service, civil-protection authority and local emergency instructions. Nothing in the Service replaces an official warning.

Community reports are unverified. Most are observations submitted by members of the public; some are generated automatically by us from weather data (Section 2). We moderate photos before publication and remove content that breaks our rules, but we do not and cannot verify that any report is accurate, current or truthful.

4.Who may use the app

In short: 13 or older, and higher where your country says so.

The Service is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old — or the minimum age required in your country for us to provide an online service to you without parental consent, if that age is higher — to use the Service, and in particular to submit community content.

You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you, including any local rules about photographing people or places.

5.Your community content NEW

In short: post only what's yours to post, and remember reports are public.

"Community content" means anything you submit through the Community feature: report types, the location and time of the report, photos, votes and reactions. Submitting a report publishes your device's precise location at that moment on a map visible to all users.

By submitting community content you confirm that:

  • It is yours. You took the photo yourself, or you hold all rights needed to submit it and to grant the licence in Section 6.
  • It doesn't infringe anyone. It does not violate anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, image rights or any other right.
  • People in it have agreed. If a person is identifiable in your photo, you have their consent (or their guardian's) to publish it. Avoid photographing people who have not agreed to appear.
  • It is honest. The report reflects weather you actually observed at that place and time. Deliberately false reports mislead people who may be making safety decisions.
  • It is lawful and appropriate. No illegal, hateful, violent, sexual, abusive or otherwise inappropriate material, and nothing unrelated to weather.

You remain responsible for your community content. You can delete your own report within the first minute after posting; after that, e-mail us your device ID and we will delete it (see Section 16).

6.The licence you grant NEW

In short: you keep your copyright. You let us show your photo in the app — and on Hyperlocal Weather's own social media accounts.

You keep the copyright in your photos and reports. We do not claim ownership of anything you submit.

To be able to run the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, re-encode, display and distribute your community content:

  • inside the Service — on the community map, in report detail screens, galleries and moderation tools; and
  • adapted where a platform requires it - for example cropping your photo or placing it on a square or portrait canvas so that it meets a social network's format rules; such a version is made only in order to publish your photo, not to create a new work; and
  • on Hyperlocal Weather's own channels — our website and our official social media accounts (for example Instagram), to show what the community is observing and to promote the Service.

The licence lasts as long as your content is part of the Service, and it exists only so that we can operate and promote the Service. We do not sell your photos and we do not license them to third parties for their own advertising. Community content is published anonymously: no name is attached, because the app has no accounts.

If you change your mind: ask us and we will remove your photo from the app, from our website, and from posts we published on our own social media accounts. Social posts are taken down by hand, so please allow us a few days. Please note that once something has been shown publicly, other people may already have copied or re-shared it, and we cannot recover those copies.

7.Things you must not do

In short: no fake reports, no abuse, no scraping, no breaking the service.

  • Submit false, misleading or spam reports, or vote dishonestly on other people's reports.
  • Upload content you don't have the rights to, or content that identifies people without their consent.
  • Harass, threaten, impersonate or abuse anyone.
  • Try to identify, track or contact another user through their reports.
  • Use bots, scripts or automated tools to submit content, cast votes or harvest data, or scrape the Service in bulk.
  • Reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload or probe the Service or our servers, or bypass rate limits, moderation or blocks.
  • Resell or redistribute weather data obtained through the Service in breach of our providers' terms (Section 11).

8.Moderation & enforcement

In short: photos are reviewed before anyone sees them, and we can block a device permanently.

Photos are reviewed by a moderator before they become visible to other users. Any report can be flagged from inside the app. We may remove, hide or refuse any content at our discretion — particularly content that breaks Section 5 or Section 7 — and we may limit or permanently block a device from the Community feature.

Because the Service has no accounts, enforcement acts on the anonymous device identifier. Rate limits apply to user devices, so that no single user device can flood the map.

We are not obliged to monitor content, and reviewing some content does not make us responsible for all of it. If you see something that breaks these Terms, please flag it in the app or e-mail us.

9.Ads, premium & purchases

In short: the free version shows ads; premium removes them. Purchases go through Apple or Google, not us.

The free version displays advertising served by Google AdMob. Premium features, including ad removal, are offered as in-app purchases.

All payments are processed by the app store you downloaded from (Apple App Store or Google Play). We never see your payment details — only an anonymous purchase token. Prices, billing, renewals, cancellation and refunds are handled by that store under its own terms; please use the store's support channels for anything related to a payment.

If a premium feature depends on a third-party service that becomes unavailable to us, we may replace it with an equivalent or withdraw it; where that materially reduces what you paid for, contact us.

10.Our intellectual property

In short: the app, its design and the name are ours. Your content is yours.

The Service — including its software, design, layout, graphics, icons, text and the "Hyperlocal Weather" name and logo — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you control, for your own non-commercial use.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from the Service, except where the law expressly allows it.

11.Third-party services

In short: weather data and ads come from other companies, under their own terms.

The Service relies on third parties, including Apple WeatherKit and Foreca for weather data, Esri/ArcGIS for map tiles, Google AdMob for advertising, and the Apple App Store and Google Play for distribution and payments. Their data and services are subject to their own terms and policies, and we are not responsible for them.

Weather data is provided for personal use within the Service. Redistributing it, or building a competing product from it, may breach those providers' terms.

12.Disclaimer of warranties

In short: the Service is provided "as is". We can't promise it is always right or always up.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and all content in it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that forecasts will be accurate, or that community reports are true.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits any statutory consumer rights you have.

13.Limitation of liability

In short: we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of weather data.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profit or opportunity, arising from your use of the Service — including any decision you take based on a forecast, radar image, alert or community report.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to a nominal amount.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14.Changes & termination

In short: we may update these Terms; you may stop any time.

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced in the app or on this website. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the app — there is no account to close. To have your community content deleted, e-mail us your device ID (see Section 16).

Copy your device ID before you uninstall. That identifier is the only thing linking you to your community content, and it lives on your device. Once the app is removed the ID is gone and we can no longer tell which reports were yours - which means we can no longer delete them for you. Copy it from Community → Reporter Profile first.

We may suspend or end your access to the Community feature if you breach these Terms.

15.Governing law

In short: Turkish law; courts of Muğla, Turkey.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and the courts and enforcement offices of Muğla, Türkiye have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer rules in your country of residence.

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force.

16.Contact us

In short: one e-mail reaches us — include your device ID for content requests.

To remove a report or photo, e-mail us with your device ID (Community → Reporter Profile → tap the ID to copy). See also our Privacy Policy.
